Free Taster Night

Always wanted to try Bellydancing? If so, come along and participate in this free taster class!

Bellydancing is great exercise for women of all ages and lots of fun in a friendly non-competitive enviroment. The dance assists in toning, strengthening and awareness of your entire body as well as helping develop confidence and strength. This class will give you let you free your inner dancer, enhance your creativity and enjoy the beauty of haunting Arabian Music.

It's a good idea to come prepared to enroll on the night. Courses to commence the week following the taster night. Courses runs for 8 weeks, please refer to timetable for details. Please come prepared to enroll on the night. Cash only payments, no cards or cheques accepted.

All proceeds from this class will be going towards the Aussie Dancers for Animals Fundraiser, raising much needed funds for the Egyptian Society for the Mercy to Animals. ESMA is committed to improving animal welfare in Egypt in all areas of need.
This class will be based on requests from attendees. Jrisi will cover whatever you wish to work on. Email her your wishlist.
This class is supported by Amera's Palace. Amera has kindly donated the studio for this class.
Silk Bazaar will have a stall during the class, $5 of each veil sold and $10 from each set of silk fans sold go towards ADFA.
$5 of every Hathor Dance Studio Performance DVD goes towards ADFA.

AUSSIE DANCERS FOR ANIMALS, Black Tie Fundraiser for ESMA (Egyptian Society for the Mercy to Animals)
A spectacular evening of dance and music performed by Sydney's professional dance and music artists with special guest star from Melbourne Melissa Cristina.

All profits from the evening will go towards ESMA, purchasing much needed veterinary supplies.

Our Black Tie Event aims to raise enough money to be able to employ regular vet visits to the shelter and supply them with a variety of medical treatments not available in Egypt.

A fabulous weekend of workshops with Melissa Cristina!!! 4 BRILLIANT WORKSHOPS TO CHOOSE FROM. Something for every dancer!!!

SATURDAY JULY 24 10AM-12PM
Oriental Egyptian Technique (Beyond Beginners-Advanced)
A fundamental workshop to attend for students of all levels wanting to brush up on their technique, clarify movements and learn some tricks of the trade by a leading professional. Melissa will also teach some short combinations that are choc full of yummy moves and groovy footwork. This workshop will give you an insight of Melissa's bubbly personality and how you can have FUN while you dance!

1PM-3PM
Brazilian Samba Moves and Belly Dance Drum Groove. Open to ALL Levels
In this workshop, you will learn the fantastic "Show Girl Samba" step, which is made famous by Egyptian Bellydancer, Soraya, who hails from Brazil! You will cover other wonderful, exciting moves from this spicy dance style that you can add to your Belly Dance Drum Solos. The first part of the class will be technique, technical drills and combinations. Then we will add these wonderful moves to the sounds of the tabla! You will need a pair of dance shoes, flat or with a heel. Please where a bright, coloured flower in your hair and lets go to Brazil for the day!

SUNDAY JULY 25 10AM-12PM
Raks Verona Choreography (Intermediate/Advanced Level)
This routine is full of wonderful dance combinations and rich in different styles within the one routine. The morning workshop will cover a beautiful veil entrance that could be used on its own or with the dance, then a little bit of taxim, and to finish off the morning, a fun and challenging saiidi routine.

1PM-3PM
Raks Verona (Part 2) (Intermediate/Advanced Level)
We will continue the routine in the afternoon by refreshing what we learnt in the morining and then go into the next segment of the kahleegy, which is a dance originally from the gulf. The routine will then move into a cute little accented sequence and then conclude with the veil combination learnt at the beginning of the day!

This routine is absolutely fabulous as a solo or as a troupe dance!

ABOUT MELISSA CRISTINA
Melissa Cristina has been Belly Dancing since she was ten and has performed in Melbourne as a professional Belly Dancer and Latin Dancer for the last 17 years. She successfully runs the Hip to Hip Middle Eastern Dance Studio and has just recently started a new business called; Good Vibrations Dance Co, from where she teaches the new dance craze; Zumba! Her dance experience
includes working with Fabio Robles, choreographer for So You Think You Can Dance and Dancing With the Stars, The Lebanese Folk Dancers for Peace, and The Ole Ola Latin Dance Extravaganza. She was co founder of Katumba Latin dance Co, and she is also one of the main choreographers on the ARAB project, run by the Victorian Arabic Social Services, teaching dance in high schools in the City of Hume. She currently teaches for Melbourne Salsa and Romina's School of Modern Dance. Melissa is a true professional in her field
and is very passionate about dance, music, and the continuation of multi cultural dance education in Australia.

A day of fabulous performances, shopping, henna tattoos and coffee cup readings plus the opportunity to try out belly dance for the first time or try out new teachers, and to get answers to all those questions you were always too afraid to ask!
